The topic of my hypertext essay was Stem Cell research. I chose this topic because I felt that it is very controversial subject to talk about. It is between people who believe stem cells can one day help in finding cures or treatments for diseases, and other people who believe that stem cells are human lives and they should not be used to help aid in research. The people who are opposing this idea feel that these stem cells are living life forms but scientists are destroying them. My purpose was to try to explain or clarify what stem cell research is really about. I also wanted to learn more on this subject myself, so I thought this would also be a good way for me to find out. I didn’t want the design to my hypertext essay to be boring, because I wanted it to be read by everyone who happened to come across my page. I also didn’t want to put too much information, because that would also be too much reading and I also wanted the reader to find more of the information by their self in case this topic was of interest to them.
If I had more time on this particular project, I would have done more research into finding organizations that are against and for stem cell research so that I could have learned more about their different perspectives. Also I would have given the backgrounds and format of the text a better look. I actually wanted to find different backgrounds that would make the page look nice or interesting, in hopes of it appealing to a bigger crowd. The resources I found I thought were good, because me being a person who knew almost nothing about stem cell research understood the information that was given in them. It clarified the definitions and explained exactly what it was, and I thought of my audience being exactly like me, not knowing much about stem cell research. So since the sources cleared most of the confusion I was having, I felt they could help clear up any confusion someone else was having.

I did stem cell research also, but I just focused on embryonic stem cells. I agree, the topic is very contraversial. Also I agree that there was a huge time crunch with this project.
